Discussion about FabLab@EVC

(Cyrill Tapales) #1

FabLab@EVC is a Shared Service Facility (SSF) funded by the DTI. It houses different kinds of FabLab equipment and serving to our local MSMEs, students and makers. Since PSHS-EVC is a Secondary School and Research and Development is embedded in the PSHS curricula with available human resources where surveys and studies are aligned with the needs of the MSMEs vis-à-vis the available industries and it can also bridge the gap between education and industry. It will provide a venue for ideation, invention and innovation to our students, individuals, schools and companies who currently don’t have ready access to the tools, skills & capabilities and network that the Fab Lab provides. Part also of our plan is to have Workshops/Seminars on new technological advancements that may open up or bolster current MSMEs needs and hone their skills by tapping the experts from industries and universities locally and nationally. With this, local entrepreneurs can produce globally competitive products and can encourage entrepreneurship instead of gainful employment- or at least plant the seed of creating- versus joining the ranks of the employed.
